About Denver Samoyed Rescue (DSR)

Denver Samoyed Rescue (DSR) was officially formed in 1993 to assist abandoned, unwanted, or otherwise neglected Samoyeds find new homes.  The group functions as a committee of the Denver Samoyed Association (as approved by the DSA governing board) and works with individuals, local animal shelters, as well as the local All Breed Rescue Network, and the national Samoyed Club of America Rescue coordinator.

It is also the goal of DSR to help educate the public about the Samoyed breed, to counsel owners who are considering surrendering their dogs to work through their problems so the dog may remain with them, and upon request, to aide law enforcement officials with evaluating bite cases.  DSR also acts as a safety net for breeders who have lost track of a puppy they've  placed, and as another possible source of information for owners who have lost their Samoyed.  All dogs placed by DSR will be spayed or neutered before going to a new home, or a foster home, in order to prevent further overpopulation of the breed.

Why Surrendered

We may not have the Samoyed your are looking for right now but that can change very quickly, so we strongly encourage you to:

  • Complete our adoption application and mail it the PO Box listed below. Our process is to first review the approved applicants we have on file. If we determine that a family is a good match for the Samoyed that enters into our program, we will not take the extra step of listing the dog on our web site.

  • Consider one of the Samoyeds that are located in an area shelter shown below.

If you are interested in adopting a Samoyed, please contact our Rescue Committee:

Remington

Young

The Last Resort Small Dog Rescue

Cotopaxi, CO

719-942-3738

501780

Samoyed/Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler.

Remington is a character. His estimated date of birth is Dec. 1, 07. Remington is handsome and Mr. Personality. He is devoted and sweet. He was dumped in a yard in New Mexico at a very young age (guessed 3 weeks), and was tiny and mal-nourished. It was unknown if he would survive at first, but Dion, the woman in New Mexico who took him in, did a good job of nursing him those first harrowing days. Remington has caught up developmentally, and should mature at approximately 60 lbs. He is currently 50 lbs. When a tiny puppy (3rd photo), he appeared to be an American Eskimo mix. As he has grown, he looks to be an Australian Cattle Dog (Red Heeler) and Samoyed mix. Remington must go to a home with another similar-sized or larger dog. Puppies need a canine playmate, and are actually much more pleasant to live with when they have an outlet for all that energy:-). Remington is now neutered, up-to-date on shots, and wormed. His adoption fee is $200.

Boy

Adult

Greater Yellowstone SPCA

Fromberg, MT (8 hrs from Denver)

406-598-2287

Samoyed/Border Collie mix

Large Size.

Beautiful boy!!

Good Boy.....Bad Boy......and what Boy actually hears.....blah, blah Boy,.......blah, blah Boy......this guy has the independence of a Samoyed and the brains of the Border collie. So, his new potential owner needs a good sense of humor and a Not very sentimental attachment to personal belongings. This is a great dog....affectionate, smart, lots and lots of energy with the want to please, but he needs a job. He likes water and all kinds of people but he could be too much for really small kids. Boy is neutered, microchipped and current on shots. He is fine with other dogs as long as they're up for constant play. For a chance to meet our Boy, please call (406)598-2287.

This pet is up to date with routine shots. This pet has been altered.

The information listed above is as it appears on the shelter's web site.
