Hello and welcome to the Specialty Planning Area of the DSA Website. This page is meant to serve as an orientation for future show chairs for everything you need to know for the annual DSA specialties. Most of the resources that you will need are in DSA's Google Drive 'Specialties' folder; however, there are a few templates attached to this page for those considering chairing and wanting to understand the responsibilities further.
In the Google Drive folder, each year has a folder where we store all documents for that year's show. If you are next year's show chair and do not see one for your upcoming show, please create your folder and copy materials from the 'Specialty Folder Template' for your show, or ask a board member for assistance. The version in your specific year's folders are yours to update and use as you need. More details instructions on how to setup your folder can be found here.
If you are considering volunteering for show chair and would like to review what all is involved with chairing, there are two documents that give you a high level overview of everything involved:
1. Specialty Planner Outline: This is your rough timeline of what will need to be accomplished at various points ahead of the speciality and give you a quick feel for your responsibilities.
2. Speciality Planner by Committee: This is your very detailed list of tasks and timelines broken out by the various committees who will be supporting you. You'll have a version of this for your show to mark items completed, make notes, print, etc. to keep yourself on track for a successful speciality.
All of the resources mentioned in either of those two documents will live in Google Drive (GD). Anywhere that you see an arrow will indicate subfolders within Google Drive.
We ask that you use Google Drive for storage of any and all items related to the show and do not store anything on your personal laptop to avoid losing any materials throughout the planning process.
Through getting access, you are also able to access previous year's folders to reference their documents in case you have questions or would like a point of preference.
